Be present

As I begin my new routine, I can’t help but observe some  of my fellow gym goers.


In fact I have made a few observations and realizations about things over this holiday off.


That said there is one thing I noticed lacking in many.  Aside from technique, or choice of routine, they are not present during the workout.  There is no consciousness in what they are doing.  It is merely auto-pilot, going through the motions.  Do they break a sweat yes, but to see results there must be more than that.


Call it a mind/muscle connection, fire in the belly, or keen focus, you must be present during your workout.  You must be aware in the moment, otherwise change will come slower.


IF you can go on autopilot during your training, you are not training.  If you don’t have to dig in a bit and focus on the task at hand, your body will not respond as favorably as you like.


Be present.
